Honoré Derazey Violin, 1832

Honoré Derazey (1794–1883) was a distinguished French violin maker and a leading figure in nineteenth-century French lutherie. After training in Mirecourt, he worked in Paris for several prominent makers, including Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, before establishing his own workshop in Mirecourt around 1840. Inspired by Stradivari and Amati, his instruments are admired for their powerful tone, fine materials, rich red-gold varnish, and accomplished craftsmanship. Derazey received numerous awards in Paris and London, and his work remains highly sought after today.
